Savu ESQ is developing practical director governance training, with a particular focus on regional and remote boards. Enquire about a programme shaped around your directors’ responsibilities and learning needs.

DIRECTORS WHO CAN TAKE PART
The aim is to help directors understand their role, ask informed questions and participate in the work of the board.
Your board wants a clear introduction to responsibilities, the rule book and how decisions are made.
Directors would benefit from discussing their roles, access to information and oversight responsibilities together.
Your organisation wants to explore training around a specific governance topic or a practical difficulty at the board table.
PROPOSED TRAINING FOCUS
For corporations registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006, the CATSI Act and the corporation’s rule book are central reference points. ORIC is the regulator.
DUTIES
Discuss directors’ duties and what they mean for participation, conduct and decisions.
ORIC director information ↗RULES
Explore how the rule book sets out roles and processes, alongside the applicable legal requirements.
ORIC governance information ↗OVERSIGHT
Consider the information directors need, how concerns are raised and how decisions are recorded.

THE SAVU ESQ APPROACH
Tui’s work in regional Australia has shaped his interest in helping directors participate with understanding.
Experience in Broome and Alice Springs prompted a focus on boards where access to information and confidence in the legal framework can affect participation.
The programme is being developed. Your enquiry helps establish the audience, topics, format and whether the proposed training could meet your needs.
Meet the practice ↗A CLEAR PLACE TO BEGIN
Start by telling us what your directors need to understand. Availability and delivery arrangements will be discussed before any engagement is agreed.
Tell us the corporation’s location, approximate group size and the topics you want to address.
Consider the relevant framework, directors’ experience and the appropriate learning format.
Agree content, timing, fees and any travel requirements when a suitable programme is available.
BEFORE WE SPEAK
There is no need to arrive with a complete training brief.
YOUR QUESTIONS
We welcome programme enquiries. Training is being developed, so content, availability and delivery arrangements need to be discussed before a booking is agreed.
The current proposal is practical governance training. It is not advertised as an accredited qualification or a programme that issues a recognised statement of attainment.
Training can support understanding, but compliance depends on the corporation’s conduct and applicable obligations. A particular legal or compliance issue may need separate advice.
Share the framework and topics you want covered. We can discuss whether and how your corporation’s governing documents could inform the proposed content.
In-person and online delivery can be discussed. Timing, location and any travel costs form part of the arrangements agreed before work begins.
