START WITH YOUR BUSINESS PLANS

The role. The person.
The way forward.

A sponsorship enquiry starts with understanding the business, the position and the prospective employee. That context helps identify the questions that need answering before you commit.

01

Considering sponsorship for the first time

You have a role to fill and want to understand whether an employer-sponsored pathway is worth exploring. Start with the role, location and your hiring plans.

02

Planning for an existing employee

You want to discuss an employee’s current visa situation or a possible longer-term pathway. We can assess the information needed and the scope of assistance.

03

Responding to a change or decision

A change in employment, a visa issue or a decision may affect what happens next. Share the relevant dates and correspondence so the available options can be considered.

DAMA · REGIONAL EMPLOYER SUPPORT

Regional businesses.
Local understanding.

Tui has lived in regional Australia for decades. That experience informs how he listens to regional employers and understands the context behind their workforce needs.

His work in places including Broome and Alice Springs brings a regional perspective to conversations about recruitment, continuity and the people a business depends on.

Discuss your DAMA options

What is a DAMA?

A Designated Area Migration Agreement is an agreement between the Australian Government and a state, territory or regional authority. It can give eligible employers access to occupations or concessions beyond standard skilled migration settings.

A DAMA is a framework for employer-sponsored migration, rather than a standalone visa. The available options depend on the agreement covering your area, the role and the applicant.

Start with your region and role.

Employers first need endorsement from the relevant Designated Area Representative before requesting a DAMA labour agreement from Home Affairs. The applicable agreement sets the requirements and any concessions.

Savu ESQ can discuss whether a DAMA warrants consideration for your business, identify the questions that need assessment and agree the scope of assistance.

THE SAVU ESQ APPROACH

Understand the legal work
behind the hiring decision.

A useful conversation connects the immigration questions with the needs of your business.

Tui Savu’s experience across immigration and business matters informs how the firm considers your plans. Start with what you are trying to achieve, then discuss the information needed and the assistance that is appropriate.

Advice is scoped to the client being represented. Employers and applicants can enquire; the terms of engagement clarify who the firm acts for.

More about the practice

KNOW WHAT YOU ARE COMMITTING TO

Clarity first.
Then a decision.

A paid initial consultation gives you a place to understand your position before deciding whether to proceed with further work.

Organise your consultation
  1. Tell us what is happening

Share a short outline of the business, the role and any proposed start date or visa deadline. We will confirm the consultation arrangements and fee.

  2. Understand your position

Discuss your circumstances, the options that need consideration and the information needed to assess them.

  3. Decide on the next step

If you wish to proceed, agree the work, fees and terms before further assistance begins.

MAKE THE CONVERSATION USEFUL

Bring the outline
of your plans.

You do not need a completed application to start. These details help make the first discussion more useful.

  • Your business name, industry and location
  • The proposed role, duties and work location
  • Whether you have identified a candidate
  • The applicant’s current location and visa situation, if known
  • Any existing sponsorship, applications or decision letters
  • Your intended timing and any deadlines

YOUR QUESTIONS

Before you
make the commitment.

Can we enquire before choosing a candidate?

Can a sponsored applicant contact you directly?

Yes. Explain your current visa situation, the employment you are considering and any relevant dates. We will clarify the scope of advice and who the firm would represent before work begins.

Does sponsorship involve ongoing obligations?

Yes. Sponsorship is not just an application process. Discuss the obligations relevant to the proposed arrangement when seeking advice.
